Course Description

History 312F/G East Asia Since 1945

Selected topics, such as the U.S. occupation of Japan, Japan's external relations with the U.S.A., U.S.S.R. and China, the rise of Communist China, Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek, the Great Cultural Revolution, China after Mao, the division of Korea and the question of Hong Kong, are examined.

Prerequisite: History 028E or one senior history course.
