First-year program with English 020E(preferred) or English 022E or English 024E, and two other courses as principal courses.

French or a foreign language at the 020-level is strongly recommended as one of the principal courses. French or a foreign language at the 020-level is required for graduation in English Language and Literature. French 025 does not meet the requirement.

Students who have obtained at least 60% in a 020-level English course, with a 70% average in their principal courses and no failures will be admitted to the program.

Students with an average of 65%-69% in their principal courses may be admitted to the program with the permission of the Department. Counselling is mandatory for students with an average between 65%-69% and strongly recommended for all other students.
