HONORS PROGRAM

Admission Requirements

First year program in Arts, Science, or Social Science with Anthropology 025F/G and either 026F/G or 027a/b. Students with a special interest in linguistics should take 027a/b. Students with special interests in biological anthropology and anthropological archaeology should take 026F/G. Entrance or continuance in the Honors Anthropology program is in accordance with university regulations.

Program

After the first year the program must include:
One full-course equivalent from among Anthropology 211F/G, 212F/G, 213F/G, 216F/G, 217F/G, 218F/G, 232F/G and 233F/G or the former 214F/G, of which one half-course must be from 211F/G to 218F/G
Anthropology 222F/G and 245F/G
Anthropology 226a/b and 229F/G, or 247a and 248b
Anthropology 301E or 333E
Anthropology 400E
Sufficient additional Honors Anthropology courses for a total of nine full- course equivalents

Note: Students are reminded that some of the above courses have prerequisites. Some courses are offered only in alternate years so that programs should be planned in order that requirements can be fulfilled in the years when the needed courses are offered.

Second Year

Principal Courses

One full-course equivalent from among Anthropology 211F/G, 212F/G, 213F/G, 216F/G, 217F/G, 218F/G, 232F/G and 233F/G or the former 214F/G of which one half-course must be from 211F/G to 218F/G
Anthropology 222F/G and 245F/G
Anthropology 226a/b and 229F/G, or 247a and 248b

Note: Linguistics students should take Anthropology 247a and 248b (248b may be taken in third year); all other anthropology students should take 226a/b and 229F/G (229F/G may be taken in the third year)

Third Year

Principal Courses

Anthropology 301E or 333E, and two other 200- or 300-level Anthropology courses. Students who have taken 226a/b may take 229F/G in this year and students who have taken 247a may take 248b in this year

Anthropology 400E plus two other 200-, 300- or 400-level Anthropology courses, including any required courses not completed previously
