Admission to this module is discontinued effective September 1, 2019. Students enrolled in the module will be allowed to graduate until August 31, 2023, upon fulfillment of the program requirements.
Students enrolled in this module who wish to change their enrolment to the new Honors Specialization in Geology – For Professional Registration must contact the Department of Earth Sciences.
Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in the 3.0 principal courses taken, including:
0.5 course: Chemistry 1301A/B with a minimum mark of 60% or the former 1100A/B with a minimum mark of 60%.
1.5 courses from: Earth Sciences 1022A/B, Earth Sciences 1023A/B, Earth Sciences 1070A/B, Earth Sciences 1081A/B, Earth Sciences 1083F/G, Biology 1001A, Biology 1002B, Biology 1201A, Biology 1202B, Chemistry 1302A/B or the former Chemistry 1200B, Physics 1028A/B, Physics 1029A/B, Physics 1301A/B, Physics 1302A/B, Physics 1501A/B, Physics 1502A/B. A minimum mark of 60% in each course is required.
1.0 additional course from: Calculus 1000A/B, Calculus 1500A/B, the former Calculus 1100A/B or Mathematics 1225A/B; and one of Applied Mathematics 1201A/B, Calculus 1301A/B, Calculus 1501A/B, Mathematics 1228A/B, Mathematics 1229A/B, Mathematics 1600A/B or the former Linear Algebra 1600A/B, Statistical Sciences 1024A/B. An average in the two courses of at least 60% is required. This requirement must be completed by the end of second year.
8.0 courses: Earth Sciences 2123F/G, Earth Sciences 2200A/B, Earth Sciences 2201A/B, Earth Sciences 2206A/B, Earth Sciences 2230A/B, Earth Sciences 2250Y, Earth Sciences 2260A/B, Earth Sciences 2265A/B, Earth Sciences 3310A/B, Earth Sciences 3313A/B, Earth Sciences 3314A/B, Earth Sciences 3315A/B, Earth Sciences 3340A/B, Earth Sciences 3350Y, Earth Sciences 3370A/B, Earth Sciences 3372A/B.
1.0 additional course in Earth Sciences at the 3000 level or above.
1.0 course: Earth Sciences 4490E.
Note: Earth Sciences 2123F/G should be taken by the end of the second year. If Earth Sciences 1023A/B has been taken, Earth Sciences 2123F/G cannot be taken, and one additional 2000-level or above Earth Sciences course not required for the module must be taken as a substitute.
