FRENCH STUDIES

All courses are taught in French unless otherwise stated.

Note: Students who have not previously taken a French Language course in the University wishing to enrol in any of French 1002, 1010, 1900E, 19101102A/B or 1103A/B must take a French Language Placement Test administered by the Department to determine competency in basic skills. Students will be counselled on the basis of test results and placed accordingly. Students may take the test online at www.uwo.ca/french. Students presenting Grade 12U French will normally be placed in French 1900E or 1910 and perhaps French 1102A/B and/or  French 1103A/B. Some students may be placed at a higher level than French 1900E19101102A/B, 1103A/B.

Note: French 2300 and 3300 may not be taken concurrently. The second-year translation course French 2300 may not be taken concurrently with either third-year translation course (French 3202 or 3300).
Please note that all students must successfully complete:
a) 2.0 essay courses, 1.0 of which must be senior (#2000-4999). These essay courses must be completed through the University of Western Ontario.
b) At least 1.0 course from each of the three categories A, B and C.
