FOUR-YEAR BSc HONORS BIOLOGY AND GEOLOGY

The program is designed to provide the student with a basic background in both Biology and Earth Sciences. This program is advantageous for those interested in Biology, Evolution, Earth History, and Paleontology.

Important Note: This is a Four-Year Honors program with no Three-Year equivalent.


Admission Requirements

The program in first year must include Biology 022 or 023 and two of Earth Sciences 081a/b, 083F/G, 281b or the former Earth Sciences 020 with a mark of at least 60% in each; Chemistry 020 or 023; Mathematics 030 or any two of the following: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, 091a/b, Mathematics 028a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b. At least one course from the faculty of Arts and Humanities or the Faculty of Social Science must be included.

Note: Courses equivalent to the former Earth Sciences 020 are any two of Earth Sciences 081a/b, 083F/G, 281b, or the former Earth Sciences 082a/b, 085a/b.

    1.0 senior Science full-course equivalent option, to attain a total of five courses. Recommended options include Earth Sciences 240a/b, Earth Sciences 250y, Earth Sciences 340a/b, and Earth Sciences 341a/b and the former Biology 328a or Biology 216b, and the former Microbiology and Immunology 359b

    * Note: By the end of fourth year students must complete at least 6.0 Honors level courses in Earth Sciences
