COMBINED HONORS ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE


Year One

Completion of five full-course equivalents.

An 020-level English course


Year Two

Year Two, Three, and Four

Note: English 316F/G is strongly recommended for students in Combined Honors English programs

One full-course equivalent form the courses listed in Groups A, B, or the following from Group E: English 259E, 260F/G, 261F/G, 262F/G, 263F/G, 232E is also accepted.

One full-course equivalent from courses listed in Groups C and D

Two full-course equivalents from Honors English essay courses not already chosen

One English full-course equivalent at the 400-level

Note: Students registered in the program prior to September 1997 should consult the Department.


Admission Requirements

First year with three principal courses. One of Philosophy 020E, 021 or 022E is strongly recommended.

A minimum average of 70% in three principal courses with no mark less than 60% in these courses and no failures.


Program

After the first year a total of at least nine Honors Philosophy courses and six options is required. Additional Philosophy courses may be included among the options, but all Honors Philosophy courses taken will be regarded as principal courses.


Second Year

All of Philosophy 200F/G, 201F/G, 210F/G, 211F/G and 212 must be taken in second year. Philosophy 225F/G and 226F/G are strongly recommended. *Students admitted to the third year of Honors Philosophy prior to the Fall/Winter 1996/97 academic session need not satisfy the Philosophy 212 course requirement, though they are strongly advised to do so.


Third and Fourth Years

Four Philosophy courses at the 300- or 400-level are required. At least one of Philosophy 332E, 352E, 354E or 362E is required in third year.
