MAJOR IN SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE


Admission Requirements

Completion of first year requirements, including 1.0 course from Spanish 030 or 030w/x (or the former Spanish 002 or 002w/x) with a mark of at least 60%. Those with Grade 12 U Spanish will receive special permission to go straight into Spanish 200, 200w/x or 222E. Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended.


Module

6.0 courses:

1.0 course (prerequisite for the rest of the module): Spanish 200, 200w/x, 222E
0.5 course (normally taken in second year): Spanish 204F/G*
2.5 courses (normally taken in third year): Spanish 202F/G, 203F/G, 205F/G*, Spanish 300
0.5 course: Spanish 320F/G, 402F/G or 404F/G (Medieval Spanish Literature)
0.5 course: Spanish 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, 402F/G or 404F/G (Spanish Golden Age Literature)
0.5 course: Spanish 331F/G*, Spanish 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G, 402F/G or 404F/G (Modern Spanish Literature)
0.5 course: Spanish 330F/G*, Spanish 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, 403F/G or 405F/G (Spanish-American Literature)

*Does not require Spanish 200 as prerequisite.

Notes: With permission of the Department, additional Spanish courses at the 400 level (Special Topics) may be used to fulfill requirements for Literature courses listed above (Medieval Spanish, Spanish Golden Age, Modern Spanish, Spanish-American). With permission of the Department, Spanish 101 with a final mark of at least 80% can be counted toward the Major in Spanish.
