HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN GEOPHYSICS


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% and no mark less than 60% in the 3.0 principal courses listed below:
Calculus 050a/b and 051a/b or 081a/b; or Applied Mathematics 026
Physics 020 or 024 or the former Physics 022 or 025
At least 1.0 course from: Earth Sciences 022a/b, 023a/b, 081a/b or the former Earth Sciences 020,
Chemistry 020, 023, 024a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b

Notes: At least a 0.5 course in Earth Sciences is recommended in first year.


If not taken in first year, Linear Algebra 040a/b must be completed before the beginning of third year.

9.0 courses:

1.5 courses: Earth Sciences 200a/b, 220a/b, 222a/b or the former 322a/b
0.5 course from: Earth Sciences 201a/b, 206a/b
0.5 course: Differential Equations 215a
1.0 course: Physics 259E
1.0 course from: Calculus 250a/b and 251a/b, or 280a/b and 281a/b
0.5 course from: Applied Mathematics 315a/b, Statistical Sciences 241a/b, 243a/b
2.5 courses: Earth Sciences 221a/b, 321a/b, 323a/b, 420a/b, 421a/b, 424a/b, or the former 320a/b
0.5 course from: Earth Sciences 423a/b, 425a/b
1.0 course: Earth Sciences 490E with a mark of at least 70%
