HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN GEOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have completed 3.0 principal
courses, with a minimum of 60% in each and a minimum average of 70%.

At least 2.0 courses from Chemistry (020 or 023), Physics (021, 024, or 028a/b and 029a/b), and Biology (022 or 023) plus 1.0 additional course (to make the total of 3.0 courses).

Additional requirements (which may be counted towards the 3.0 principal courses).
1.0 courses from: Mathematics 030 or Calculus 050a/b and one of Calculus 051a/b, 081a/b, 091a/b, Linear Algebra 40a/b, Statistics 024a/b. This requirement must be completed by the end of second year.

10.0 courses:

8.0 courses: Earth Sciences 123a/b, 200a/b, 201a/b, 206a/b, 230a/b, 250y, 260a/b, 265a/b,
Earth Sciences 310a/b, 313a/b, 314a/b, 315a/b, 340a/b, 350y, 370a/b, 400a/b
1.0 additional course in Earth Sciences at the 300 level or above
1.0 course: Earth Sciences 490E with a mark of at least 70%

Note: If Earth Sciences 023a/b has been taken, Earth Sciences 123a/b cannot be taken.
