Admission to First Year

Students may apply to enter the three-year Bachelor of Arts in Media, Information and Technoculture when they apply for general admission to Western. Please note that enrolment in all years of the program is limited. Registration in the first year of the MIT program does not guarantee progression to second year. Students are encouraged to select courses within their first year program that will provide the necessary prerequisites for additional degree program options and serve as prerequisites for senior level MIT, approved alternates, and non-MIT options.

Part-Time Students

First-year students registered on a part-time basis will be reviewed for admission to second year of their desired program after the completion of 3.0 full-course equivalents, provided they meet the minimum progression or admission requirements and have completed the first year prerequisites for their desired MIT program.

Transfer Students

Transfer students from other post-secondary institutions who meet the minimum admission requirements to transfer to Western may request admission to an MIT program at the time of application. Admission is highly competitive and contingent on space availability. Students who meet the minimum admission requirements are encouraged to apply well in advance of the application deadline.

Current Western students in other faculties who wish to enter an MIT program should note that admission decisions to MIT programs are finalized after the completion of a first-year program. The option of transferring into an MIT program is contingent on space availability. Students enrolled in an MIT program who wish to transfer into another MIT program will be considered if spaces become available. The admission average will be determined by the number of spaces available versus the number of qualified applicants.
