JUDICIAL CLERKSHIP PROGRAM

Each year, the Justices of the Supreme Court of Canada select law clerks from the graduating classes of Canadian law schools. In Ontario, the year spent as a law clerk is credited as articling time. Several Western graduates have had the privilege of clerking for Justices of the Supreme Court. The Ontario Court of Appeal and the Superior court of Justice also oversee similar programs for graduates of Ontario law schools. Information regarding these programs is available through the Career Services Office.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia also selects law clerks from the graduating classes of the law schools. While preference is given to graduates of British Columbia law schools, graduates of other Canadian schools are also considered.
