COURSE LOAD

At Western and its affiliated colleges the usual full-time course load in any year of the 3-year or 4-year BA and BSc programs is five courses. In any one term the usual full-time load is five half-courses or their equivalent.

During the spring/summer period (May to August), undergraduate students can only attend Western on a part-time basis (see below "Maximum Course Load for Part-Time Students") .

The Dean of the Faculty of registration may authorize enrolment in a pattern that exceeds these limitations for students with high academic standing.

Maximum Course Load for Part-Time Students

Students may take a maximum of three full-course equivalents during the spring/summer sessions if no more than two full-course equivalents are taken simultaneously. If two full-course equivalents are taken simultaneously in the spring/summer session, only one full-course equivalent may be an honors or laboratory/tutorial course, and only one may be taken by distance studies.

Students may not take more than one full-course equivalent by distance studies during the spring/summer session and two full-course equivalents during the fall/winter session.

Distance Studies courses are restricted to students who will be resident in Canada and the United States during the session. Exceptions from this restriction require special permission from the Office of the Dean of the Faculty in which the student is registered.
