BSc IN HONORS PSYCHOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Students who wish to enter the Honors B.Sc. program should complete the following first year requirments and then apply to the Honors program.


First Year

    An 020-level Psychology course (Psychology 023 is recommended for students who have an interest in a biological approach to Psychology)
    Calculus 050a/b and one of Calculus 051a/b or 081a/b or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027. (Students who have completed any of the other mathematics courses listed under the Area of Concentration [Three year degree] should consult the Department.)
    Biology 022 or 023
    One of Chemistry 020 or 023 or the former Chemistry 026; Computer Science 025a/b or 026a/b or the former Computer Science 028a/b, with 027a/b; Physics 020 or 024 or the former Physics 025
    One additional full-course equivalent


Second Year
Principal Courses

    Psychology 280E (Research Methods in Psychology)

    Psychology 281 (Statistics for Psychology)

    Two 200-level half-courses in Psychology including one from the 200-239 series and one from the 240-279 series

    One 200-level Science full-course equivalent


Subsidiary Course

    One non-Psychology full-course equivalent numbered 001 or above


Third Year
Principal Courses

    Psychology 380F/G and one-half course in Research from: 302F/G or or the former Psychology 306F/G; 317F/G; 322F/G; 336F/G or 387F/G; 356F/G; 361F/G; 370F/G; 382F/G
    Three additional 300-level half-courses or equivalents in Psychology excluding the courses listed above. These additional courses must include at least one from Psychology 386a/b, the former Psychology 390a/b, or from the 300-339 series, and one from the 340-379 series.
    One additional 200-level half course in Psychology.
    One Science full-course equivalent numbered 200 or above

Note: All 300-level courses have 200-level prerequisites.


Subsidiary Course

    One non-Psychology full-course equivalent numbered 001 or above


Fourth Year
Principal Courses

    Psychology 485E (Honors Thesis)

    Four half-courses or equivalents in Psychology from Psychology 386a/b, 387F/G, the former psychology 390a/b, the 300-339 series, or from the former Psychology 452F/G, 487F/G, the former psychology 490F/G, the 400-439 series.

    One Science full-course equivalent numbered 200 or above


Subsidiary Course

One non-Psychology full-course equivalent numbered 001 or above
