HONORS GEOGRAPHY PROGRAMS

HONORS GEOGRAPHY PROGRAMS AND TRANSITIONAL PERIOD (1998-2002) (FOUR-YEAR DEGREE)

The Department of Geography offers a number of 4-year programs that offer an Honors Bachelor of Arts or an Honors Bachelor of Science degree. Please carefully read the program requirements that are listed below in order to ensure that all are met. Geography courses at the 100 level may not be used to fulfill Geography requirements in Geography honors programs. All honors students are encouraged to complete Geography 490E (Thesis) in their fourth year. It has a credit weight of 1.5 credits.

In 1998, the Geography Department restructured its honors programs. Students who were registered in ANY of the Honors Geography programs listed below prior to September 1998 may choose to graduate under EITHER the old OR the new program requirements. Those students who are eligible and wish to graduate under the old program requirements may obtain information from the Geography Office (SSC room 2432). These students are encouraged to seek academic counselling from the Department. Students who were not registered in the relevant honors Geography program prior to September 1998 must graduate under the new program requirements that are outlined below.

Entry into any of the Honors Geography programs requires the completion of five full courses or equivalents from first year. In order to enter into and maintain enrolment in all Honors Geography programs, a principal course average of at least 70% must be achieved.
