HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN MEDIA, INFORMATION AND TECHNOCULTURE

Enrolment in all modules in Media, Information and Technoculture is limited. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that students wishing to enter any Module in Media, Information and Technoculture will be offered enrolment.


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. All 5.0 first-year courses will be considered as principal courses. Students must have an average of at least 70% in these principal courses, including Media, Information and Technoculture 025a/b and 026a/b and Computer Science 031a/b with a mark of at least 65% in each, with no mark in any course below 60%.


Module

9.0 courses:

2.5 courses required in second year: MIT 201F/G, 202F/G, 203a/b, 204F/G, Writing 121F/G
1.0 course required in third year: MIT 301a/b and 302F/G
0.5 course required in fourth year: MIT 430F/G-439F/G
5.0 MIT courses at the 200 level or above

For the 5.0 MIT courses in the last item above, a maximum of 3.0 courses at the 200 level or above may be substituted from other offerings relevant to the study of media, information and technoculture. Specific examples of such courses are available from the MIT Undergraduate Academic Advisor. Such courses must be approved by the MIT Undergraduate Academic Advisor in consultation with the Associate Dean.


Progression Requirements

In addition to the general university requirements for the Honors Bachelor degree

  • Minimum cumulative average of 72% for the module.
