HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN GEOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including the Earth Sciences, Chemistry, and 1.0 additional course shown below, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

At least 0.5 course from: Earth Sciences 022a/b, 023a/b, 081a/b, or the former Earth Sciences 020, 082a/b, 085a/b; or Earth Sciences 083F/G, 086F/G, 088F/G, 089F/G with a mark of at least 70%. (Earth Sciences 022a/b is recommended.)
1.0 course from: Chemistry 020 or 023
1.0 additional course (or 1.5 if only one 0.5 course in Earth Sciences is taken, for a total of 3.0)
1.0 course from: Mathematics 028a/b, 030, Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b or 081a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b, is also required, but need not be considered a principal course.

8.0 courses: Earth Sciences 123a/b, 200a/b, 201a, 206a/b, 230b, 250y, 260a/b, 265a/b, 310a/b, 313a/b, 314b, 315a/b, 340a/b, 350y, 370a/b, 400a/b
1.0 course: Earth Sciences 490E with a mark of at least 70%

Note: If Earth Sciences 023a/b has been taken, Earth Sciences 220a/b must be substituted for Earth Sciences 123a/b.
