HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND CHEMISTRY

This module provides a balance between core chemistry and biochemistry. It includes a course which is an independent research project, in which the student works in a research laboratory in one of the Departments of Chemistry or Biochemistry, typically during the final year of study.

Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%, including:

Chemistry 020; or Chemistry 023 with a mark of at least 70%
Biology 022 or 023
1.0 course from: Calculus 050a/b plus 0.5 course from: Calculus 051a/b, 081a/b, 091a/b, or Linear Algebra 040a/b (with an average in the two of at least 60%); or Applied Mathematics 026; or Mathematics 030 (with a mark of at least 80%).
1.0 course from: Physics 020, 024, 028a/b and 029a/b, or the former Physics 022 or 025 is also required, but is not considered to be a principal course.
