FOUR-YEAR BA OR BSc HONORS MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS


Admission Requirements
Principal Courses

One full course equivalent, chosen from the following:

Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b (or 081a/b with a mark of at least 85%), or Applied Mathematics 026.
Statistical Sciences 023a/b
Linear Algebra 040a/b*
Any other full course equivalent


Subsidiary Courses

Two courses (of which at least one full course must be from Arts or Social Science)

*If Linear Algebra 040a/b is not taken in first year, it must be taken prior to the second term of second year with a minimum mark of at least 60%.

If Statistical Sciences 023a/b is not taken in first year, students should consult with an academic counsellor in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences prior to entering second year.


Second Year
Principal Courses

Statistical Sciences 257a
Statistical Sciences 259a/b plus one of 258b or 260b, or the former Statistical Sciences 255.
Mathematics 200a/b or the former Mathematics 203b, Mathematics 207a/b
Calculus 250a/b plus Calculus 251a/b.


Subsidiary Courses

One and one half courses, including Linear Algebra 040a/b, if not taken in first year.


Third and Fourth Years
Principal Courses

Mathematics 217a/b or the former Mathematics 306a/b;
Mathematics 304a/b, 307a/b;
1.5 additional Mathematics courses numbered 300 or above;
0.5 additional course in Mathematics numbered 200 or above (Applied Mathematics 261b or 325a/b or Differential Equations 215a may be substituted);
Statistical Sciences 325a/b, 346a/b, 357a, 358b, 359a/b, 361a/b;
1.5 additional courses numbered 310 or above in Statistical and Actuarial Sciences.

Each of the above courses will be considered as a principal course in the year that it is taken. At least three principal courses must be taken in each of third and fourth years.


Subsidiary Courses

Two other full course equivalents, to bring the total number of courses taken in each year to five courses.

Note: To satisfy prerequisite requirements, the above courses must be taken in an appropriate order. Students should consult both the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences before registering.
