ECONOMICS, BUSINESS AND MATHEMATICS

Students may complete the requirements of an area of concentration in Economics at King's. Please see the FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE section of this Calendar for further information. King's University College and Huron University College also offer an Honors Economics program that is designed for those students who wish to combine economic theory with applied studies in Economics. See the Huron University College section for a description of the program.

A Diploma in Honors Standing in Economics is also available at King's University College and is described below.


Admission Requirements for Students Entering Diploma in Honors Standing

Three-year BA with the following as principal courses:

  1. Economics 122a/b, 123a/b (the former 123a/b), Economics 141a/b, 150a/b, 151a/b, 152a/b, 153a/b
  2. One full-course equivalent from Economics 116a/b, 117a/b, 124a/b, 125a/b, 126F/G (the former 126a/b), Economics 127F/G (the former 127a/b), Economics 128a/b, 196a/b, 197a/b, or the former Economics 110E
  3. One half-course from Economics 155a/b, 156a/b, 157F/G (the former 157a/b), Economics 159a/b, 160a/b, 161F/G, 163a/b, 164a/b, 165F/G, 169F/G, 171F/G, 172a/b, 176F/G, 182F/G, 184a/b, the former 158a/b

Notes
  1. Each course specified in a) must be completed with a mark of at least 70%.
  2. Each course specified in b) and c) must be completed with a mark of at least 60%.
  3. The courses specified in a), b) and c) must be completed with an overall average of at least 70%.

Fourth Year
Principal Courses

Note: A total of nine Honors Economics full-course equivalents or their general program equivalents must be taken. Fourth year may be taken over two years. Indeed, the Economics 313E and 405E sequence may require that it be taken over two years. Should that be necessary, at least three and one-half courses must be taken in the first of these two years.
