Law 101, Introduction to Law
Description: Taught by several Law Faculty members, this introduction to Canadian law covers the basic legal areas of most relevance in modern society and also focuses on current controversial issues. Topics may include the legal profession, constitutional law including the Charter, criminal law, commercial and consumer law, property, torts, and family law.
Antirequisite(s): Registration in the LL.B. Program.

Law 340, Introduction to Law
Description: An introduction to the nature of law and the basic structures and processes of the Canadian legal system. Topics will include the social role of the legal profession, family law, criminal law and legal controls on the exercise of state power. Limited enrolment.
Prerequisite(s): Registration in third or fourth year of a program other than Law or permission of the Faculty.
2 lecture hours, 1 tutorial hour, 1.0 course.
Note: Law 340 is not intended as preparation for the Faculty of Law. Students registered in the LLB Program may not enrol for credit in this course.

Law 360, Legal Problems Affecting Women
Description: An introduction to various areas of law relating to women. Topics will include rape, sexual harassment, wife-battering, pornography, prostitution, the sexual abuse of children, discrimination in employment, women and sports, reproduction, health care, divorce, the separation of marital property, and marriage contracts.
Prerequisite(s): Womens Studies 020E or permission of the Director.
3 lecture hours, 1.0 course.
Note: Students registered in the LLB Program may not enrol for credit in this course.
