Dance 270a/b, Dance Improvisation
Description: Students will explore improvisation as a process that facilitates the spontaneous response to cues and stimuli for the purpose of opening doorways to their own movement creativity. Topics will consider relaxation, improvisational states, structures for improvisations, participant and leader roles, building group trust, and the progression from spontaneity to form.
Prerequisite(s): Permission of Kinesiology.

Dance 474y, Performance Practice and Production
Description: This course provides practical and theoretical understanding of performance and production including rehearsal, presentation and analysis of finished works. Students will plan, create, and participate in a student production. Prior experience in dance composition is required. Students must demonstrate an understanding and mastery of basic technique in modern dance or ballet.
Prerequisite(s): Dance 372a/b or the former 471a/b or Permission of Kinesiology.
Fall Term: 1 lecture hour. Winter Term: 1 lecture hour, 4 laboratory hours, 0.5 course.
