ACADEMIC INFORMATION

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ONTARIO HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS (OSIS and OSS)

Enrolment in first year is limited and admission is competitive. The minimum admission average is determined each year and is dependent on the number and quality of applicants, and number of available places in each faculty and/or program.

Admission under OSIS

Students presenting the OAC curriculum must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma including:

1. Completion of six Ontario Academic Courses (OACs)
2. Completion of OAC1 English
3. Completion of required prerequisites as specified by Western
4. An admission average including all pre-requisite courses as specified by Western

Admission under OSS

Students presenting the Ontario Grade 12 Secondary School curriculum implemented in 1999 must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma including:

1. Completion of six Grade 12 U and/or M level courses
2. Completion of ENG4U
3. Completion of required prerequisites as specified by Western
4. Satisfactory completion of the Literacy Test (except for those students who entered Grade 9 in 1999/2000)
5. An admission average including all pre-requisite courses as specified by Western

Note: students who take OAC courses in combination with Grade 12 "U" and "M" level courses will be considered for admission provided that they meet all course pre-requisites as specified by Western and achieve the appropriate admission average.

Students are able to provide information about circumstances that may have adversely affected their academic performance in high school including, financial circumstances, required employment, disability or illness, or other personal and family matters. This information will be taken into consideration in the admissions process.
