THREE YEAR BA

Admission Requirements

A mark of at least 60% in Spanish 020 or 020w/x or 022E

Program

After the completion of Spanish 020 or 020w/x or 022E, the program consists of Spanish 201, 202F/G, 203F/G, 218F/G, 219F/G; and four additional half-courses in Spanish. Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended as an option.

FOUR YEAR BA

Admission Requirements

A mark of at least 60% Spanish 020 or 020w/x or 022E

Program

After the completion of Spanish 020 or 020w/x or 022E, the program consists of Spanish 201, 202F/G, 203F/G, 218F/G, 219F/G; and nine additional half-courses in Spanish including at least one-half course in each of the following areas:

Spanish Golden Age Literature: 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.

Modern Spanish Literature: 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.

Spanish-American Literature: 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, and Spanish 403F/G and 405F/G, if applicable.

Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended as an option.

HONORS PROGRAMS

Students in Honors Spanish or Combined Honors with Spanish may be able to take their third year at a Spanish university by special arrangement with the Department. Students in combined programs must consult both departments.

SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

Admission Requirements

First year program with Spanish 002, or 002w/x, or 020, or 020w/x, or 022E, plus two others as principal courses. Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended. Students who begin Spanish at university and who desire to enter any honors program involving Spanish are urged to take Spanish 020 or 022E in Intersession or Summer Session, or consult the Department concerning an alternative.

Program

After the first year the program consists of a total of at least fifteen courses: a minimum of nine Honors Spanish courses and six options. Spanish 201, 202F/G, 203F/G, 204F/G, 205F/G, 218F/G, 219F/G are mandatory.

In addition, five full-year equivalent Honors courses in Spanish must be taken, including at least one half-course in each of the following areas:

Medieval Spanish Literature: 320F/G and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.

Spanish Golden Age Literature: 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.

Modern Spanish Literature: 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.

Spanish-American Literature: 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, and Spanish 403F/G and 405F/G, if applicable.

* Students planning to take third year in Spain should defer Spanish 218F/G and 219F/G to the third year of the program.

COMBINED HONORS PROGRAMS

Approved Combinations: Anthropology, Classical Studies, Comparative Literature and Culture, English, Film Studies, French, Geography, German, Greek, History, Latin, Linguistics, Media, Information and Technoculture, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Russian, Sociology, Visual Arts, or Women's Studies. SPANISH AND GEOGRAPHY

Admission Requirements

First year program in Arts, Science, or Social Science, with Geography 020E, Spanish 020 or 022E and one other principal course.

Principal Courses

Spanish 201, 218F/G, 219F/G

Four 200-level Geography half-courses (Geography 220a/b strongly recommended)

Students should ensure that their choice of Spanish courses fulfills the requirements for the Combined Honors Programs with Spanish; i.e. at least one half course in each of the areas of Medieval Spanish Literature, Spanish Golden Age, Modern Spanish and Spanish-American.

Geography 448a/b and one and one-half 300- or 400-level courses in Geography. Students may choose Geography 490E (thesis) which has a course weight of 1.5. The topic of the research must concern an area in which Spanish is spoken
