The equivalent of 7.5 courses in Comparative Literature and Culture at the senior level (i.e., courses numbered 100-499). No more than 2 full course equivalents at the 100 level can be counted.
First year with Comparative Literature and Culture 020 and two other courses as principal courses. French or a foreign language is strongly recommended as one of the principal courses. If a 020-level language is not taken in first year, it must be successfully completed by the end of the second year.
Students who have obtained at least 60% in Comparative Literature and Culture 020, with a minimum 70% average in their principal courses and no failures, will be admitted to the program.
Students who have obtained between 65 and 69% in their principal courses may be admitted to the program with the approval of the Department. Consultation with the Undergraduate Chair is mandatory for these, and strongly recommended for all other students.

With the permission of the Department, an undergraduate thesis worth a full credit (Comparative Literature and Culture 410E) may be substituted for one of the three and one-half courses mentioned in line 11 above. If approved, the thesis will be written in the fourth year and will be directed and marked by a member of the CLC faculty.
Approved Combinations: Anthropology, Classical Studies, English, Film Studies, French, German, Greek, History, Latin, Linguistics, Media, Information and Technoculture, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Russian, Sociology, Spanish, Visual Arts, or Women's Studies.
