Course Description

Earth Sciences 322a Introduction to Time Series Analysis

Fourier analysis using the Fast Fourier Transform. Correlation, convolution, and introduction to digital filtering methods with applications to a broad spectrum of disciplines. Although stress is on geophysical applications such as in seismology, examples from economics, medicine,atmospheric physics, electrical engineering and image processing are used.

Prerequisites: Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b, or Applied Mathematics 290a and 291b; or the former Applied Mathematics 281a and 282b, or 200.
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course.
