Course Description

Earth Sciences 085a/b Introduction to Geophysics.

An overview of the origin and development of Earth and solar system; constitution and processes of Earths interior (Earths magnetism, gravity), surface (plate motions, earthquakes, volcanoes), and atmosphere (aurorae). Labs include geophysical methods used in oil and mineral exploration.

Antirequisite: The former Earth Sciences 080.
