Course Description

Earth Sciences 084b Mineral Deposits and the Environment

Introduction to the natural processes which produce economic concentrations of mineral resources, a review of the important examples in Canada and the world, and discussion of environmental problems encountered by resource recovery and use. Labs consist of basic rock and mineral identification, geologic map interpretation, and exercises in historical geology.

Antirequisite: Earth Sciences 020, 082a/b.
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours, half course.
