Course Description

CEE 326 Soil Mechanics and Hydrogeologic Engineering

Soil classification, clay mineralogy, effective stress principle, site investigation practice. One and two dimensional steady state flow in natural and engineered systems. One dimensional settlement and consolidation theories for clayey soils, shear strength models, assessment of short term slope stability.

Prerequisites: CEE 202a/b, Applied Mathematics 277, Earth Sciences 281b.
2 lecture hours, 1.5 tutorial hours, 1.5 laboratory hours.
