Course Description

Chemistry 351a Transition-Metal Chemistry

Chemistry of the transition metals, with emphasis on classical coordination complexes. Properties of ligands: coordination number and geometries; bonding theories; spectral and magnetic properties; reaction mechanisms and oxidation states.

Antirequisite: Chemistry 321a/b.
Prerequisite: Chemistry 251.
2 lecture hours, 4 laboratory hours, 1 tutorial hour, half course.
This course is restricted to students in any Honors Chemistry Program.
