Course Description

History 381F/G African-American History: From the First Great Migration to the Present

Traces the history of African Americans through the First and Second Great Migrations, Garveyism, the Harlem Renaissance, the Great Depression and World War II, and the civil rights and Black Power movements. Lectures, book discussion, and examination of selected topics in seminars.

Prerequisite: One senior U.S. history course.
