Course Description

History 380F/G African-American History: From the Antebellum Period to the Founding of the NAACP

Traces the history of African Americans through slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, segregation and disenfranchisement, debate over the strategies of Booker t. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois, and founding of the NAACP. Lectures, book discussion, and examination of selected topics in seminars.

Prerequisite: One senior U.S. history course.
