Course Description

Political Science 412G Discourse and Power

Using techniques of discourse analysis, the course examines linkages between discursive practices and relations of power. The analytic models and techniques taught in the course connect micro- and macro-levels of systems and structures with individual agency and explore aspects of hegemony and marginalization.

Antirequisite: Anthropology 412F/G
Prerequisite: Anthropology 411F/G or Political Science 411F Fourth year Honours standing in Political Science, or permission of the department.
2 lecture hours, 1 laboratory hour, half course.
