Course Description

Physics 351a Quantum Mechanics I

The Schrodinger equation in one dimension, wave packets, stationary states, the harmonic oscillator, the postulates of Quantum Mechanics, operators and eigenvalue equations, angular momentum, the hydrogen atom.

Antirequisite: Chemistry 374a/b.
Prerequisite: Physics 200 or the former Physics 252b, 258b.
Corequisite: Applied Mathematics 315a/b, or the former Applied Mathematics 300.
3 lecture hours, half course.
