Course Description

Physics 210a/b Introduction to Medical Physics

Physical principles and experimental techniques applied to medicine and biology. A review of x-rays and gamma rays in medical diagnosis and therapy. Physical principles of lasers, ultrasound, and magnetic fields in mapping structures, identifying functions, diagnosis and therapy of the human body.

Antirequisite: Medical Biophysics 475a.
Prerequisites: Physics 020 or 024 or 025 or 026; Calculus 050a/b and (051a/b or 081b), or Applied Mathematics 026.
Corequisites: (Calculus 250a/b and 251a/b) or (Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b) or (Applied Mathematics 290a and 291b) or (the former Applied Mathematics 281a and 282b) or (the former Mathematics 204a and 205b); Linear Algebra 040 a/b or the former Mathematics 202a or the former Applied Mathematics 212a.
