Astronomy 321a/b Stellar Atmospheres

Interpreting starlight. Stellar spectra, radiation transfer in gases, models of stellar atmospheres, spectral lines and their analysis.

Prerequisites: Calculus 250a/b and 251a/b, or the former Applied Mathematics 200 or the former Mathematics 204a and 205b; or permission of the Department.
3 lecture hours, half course.
