Astronomy 020 Astronomy I

An introduction to astronomy for students who are taking or have completed first year courses in Physics and Mathematics. The various fields of astronomy will be covered, as in Astronomy 021, but with an emphasis on the quantitative and physical aspects rather than the purely descriptive. Selected topics of current interest will be treated in some detail.

Antirequisite: Astronomy 021.
Corequisites: Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026; Physics 020
3 lecture hours.
