Course Description

Linear Algebra 040a/b Linear Algebra I

Properties and applications of vectors; matrix algebra; solving systems of linear equations; determinants; vector spaces; orthogonality; eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Antirequisites: Applied Mathematics 025a/b, 213b, Mathematics 030, 031, the former Applied Mathematics 212a, 214a/b, the former Mathematics 202a.
Prerequisites: OAC Algebra and Geometry or Grade 12U Geometry and Discrete Mathematics (MGA4U) or Mathematics 017a/b, or Calculus 050a/b taken as a pre- or corequiste.
3 lecture hours, 1 laboratory hour, half course.
