Course Description

Kinesiology 410a Introduction to Coaching

The course provides students with an exposure to the application of theoretical aspects of sport philosophy, administration, physiology, training, skill refinement and psychology to coaching. In addition, the students will hear from experienced coaches about different ways of coaching to understand the art of this profession. This course must be taken in conjunction with the course Kinesiology 411y to give the students the exposure to practical coaching and to allow the application of class contents in the field.

Antirequisite: The former Kinesiology 410y.
Corequisite: Kinesiology 411y.
Prerequisite: Registration in the School of Kinesiology
Recommended courses: Kinesiology 230a/b, 241a/b, 288a/b or 088a/b. Basic computer knowledge (word processing, data processing, internet) desirable.
3 lecture hours, half course.
