Course Description

History 455E American Legal and Constitutional History

A seminar course examining selected topics in the development of the American legal and constitutional system from its beginnings with the transplantation of English law in the seventeenth century through to the twentieth century. Attention will be paid to comparable themes in the legal history of England and Canada.

Prerequisite: One senior course in U.S. History or enrolment in the Faculty of Law.
