Applied Mathematics 353a Advanced Classical Mechanics I

D'Alembert's principle, Lagrange's equations, detailed treatment of variational calculus, Hamilton's principle, two-body problem, scattering, special relativity, rigid body motion.

Antirequisites: Physics 350a.
Prerequisites: Calculus 251a/b and Linear Algebra 040a/b, or the former Applied Mathematics 200 and 213b.
3 lecture hours, half course.
