Course Description

Film Studies 245F/G East and Central European Cinemas

This course explores films produced in East-Central Europe (including the cinemas of Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, and the former Soviet republics and the former Yugoslavia) in relation to the historical and social conditions of cultural production, and in relation to individual directors and artists.

Prerequisite: At least 60% in Film Studies 020E, and at least 60% in all subsequent Film Studies courses, or permission of the Department.
2 lecture/seminar hours, 1 3-hour lecture/screening, half course.
