THREE YEAR BA

Admission Requirements

A mark of at least 60% in German 020 or 024 or permission of the Department.

Program

Five senior full-course equivalents in German. These will normally consist of German 250E and four additional language and literature courses chosen in consultation with the Department.

FOUR YEAR BA

Admission Requirements

A mark of at least 60% in German 020 or 024.

After the completion of German 020 or 024, the program consists of German 100F/G, 101F/G, 250E, 292a/b, 293a/b, at least four of the half courses German 300F/G, 311F/G, 322F/G, 333F/G, 392F/G, 395F/G, and five half courses from among such areas as Comparative Literature and Culture, Visual Art History, History, Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy, for a total of 7.5 courses. All courses chosen from these areas are subject to departmental approval.

Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended as an option.

HONORS PROGRAMS

Admission Requirements

First year program in Arts, Science, or Social Science, with German 020 or 024 (or 002) and two other courses as principal courses. Students who take German 002 in the first year will normally take German 020 or 024 concurrently with their second year courses.

Third Year Abroad

Western has exchange programs with the University of Düsseldorf and several universities in Baden-Württemberg. Students may spend their third year abroad in Germany if they have reached the admission requirements. Scholarships are usually available on a competitive basus.
