Course Description

Anthropology 213F/G Cultures of Africa

The culture and history of a number of African societies, concentrating on those south of the Sahara. Topics include the iron age in Africa, the development of agriculture, the distribution and spread of language groups, the cultural and economic aspects of pre-colonial societies, the impact of colonialism, and contemporary problems.

Antirequisite: The former Anthropology 203E.
Prerequisite: One 020-099 level course from Administrative Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology or Sociology.
3 hours, half course.
Usually only two of Anthropology 211F/G, 212F/G, 213F/G, 216F/G, 217F/G, 218F/G will be offered in any given year.
