Chemistry 361b Introductory Organometallic Chemistry

An introduction to the chemistry of the metal-carbon bond including: structure, bonding and reactions of metal-alkyls, -carbonyls, -alkenes, -alkynes and other pi-complexes; fundamental reactions (oxidative addition and reductive elimination, including C-H bond activation, migratory insertion); use in organic synthesis. Complementary to Chemistry 461a/b.

Prerequisite: Chemistry 351a.
2 lecture hours, 1 tutorial hour, half course.
