Course Description

Religious Studies 166F/G Violence and Christian Love

The controversy between Christians over the justifiability of using violence is examined historically and thematically. Contemporary debates on such issues as deterrence and the arms race, unilateral disarmament, pacifism, the just war, support of third world revolutionaries, liberation theology, causes of violence, and Church statements on government tactics are discussed.
