Sociology 173a/b Problems in Mass Society

Explores strategies used by individuals to cope with mass society. Bureaucratic complexity, information and communication, and new counterbureaucratic institutions such as the consumer movement and the ombuds, are examined.

Antirequisites: the former Sociology 171F/G and 246.
