Course Description

Microbiology and Immunology360b Molecular Biology of Bacteria and Viruses

The molecular organization of the bacterial surface, mechanisms of protein secretion, signal transduction, organization of the bacterial genome, global control mechanisms, and mechanisms of genetic transfer. The second part of the course compares strategies of replication in representative bacterial and mammalian viruses.

Prerequisites: Biochemistry 280a (formerly Biology 280a), Biology 281b, Biochemistry 381a (formerly Biology 381a), Microbiology and Immunology 220a/b.
Admission is limited and will be based on grades in prerequisites. Check timetable for constraints.
