Course Description

Health Sciences 412a/b Health Information Management (Databases and Database Management)

This course will look at the structure and function of databases. The course lectures will cover the system life cycle from planning to development and implementation to management. We will also look at existing Canadian health databases; health care networks; analysis of health information and health record systems. A lab component will complement the lecture material and build upon the basic skills learned in Health Sciences 315E.

Prerequisite: Health Sciences 315E or permission of Instructor.
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course
