ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS UNDER OSIS (Ontario Schools-Intermediate/Senior)

The following general guidelines for admission under OSIS are presented to assist students in determining their future academic programs:

  1. Ontario secondary school students must be eligible to receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
  2. Students who will obtain the OSSD must present 6 Ontario Academic Courses (OACs), including OAC1 English.
  3. The University of Western Ontario encourages students to achieve as much breadth of preparation as possible in the completion of their secondary school program.
  4. An overall average of 70.0% on the best 6 OACs including prerequisites is the minimum average required for admission; however, higher averages may be required for any program in which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the supply of places available in that program. The completion of the OSSD (including 6 OACs) will not, in itself, guarantee admission.
  5. Students who are not eligible for an OSSD may appeal to receive consideration for admission provided that:
    1. a minimum of thirty credits, including at least fourteen in the senior division, have been completed, and
    2. a minimum of 6 acceptable OACs have been completed, and
    3. the secondary school principal has approved the academic program presented.

Notice

Students offering the Ontario Secondary School Honour Graduation Diploma (OSSHGD) must present 6 Grade 13 credits including Grade 13 English and should contact the Admissions Office regarding subject requirements. Admission averages will be the same as for those students presenting the OSSD.
